The first service was held February 21st, Ash Wednesday. We used the 12 prayers prayed in Assisi, Italy on the Day of Prayer for World Peace, 1986. At the end of our service, everyone lit a candle and let it float in the fountain outside our church symbolizing water carrying the light of peace to the rest of the world through prayer.
Our second service was held April 15th. We used prayers representing Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, Jewish, Hindu and Native American faiths. As people entered, they were given a small cup of water to pour into a large bowl. Water is the symbol of life! As our prayers were joined together, the water showed our unity and blending of our faiths for hope, peace and love in our world. As people left, they were given a small vial with the blended water to take home.
